There are many ways to meditate. Willingness to begin this ancient and profound practice is all that is required to begin. It only works if you work it! Remember that it is OK to have thoughts in meditation and to be kind to yourself! To develop the practice you have to stick with it, even when it seems difficult. Let go of expectations and sit. You can do this as long as you aren't trying too hard. I have faith in you. Breathe and begin.
